the best Newcastle & Hunter Valley wedding venues 2023

There are so many Newcastle & Hunter Valley wedding venues, I often wonder how newly engaged couples get started. I see the best and the worst of them, so I've compiled this list of my favourites. This is based on the location and the service. All of these venues host both ceremony & reception, which is what I recommend. Many also have accomodation available.

I also advise visiting WedShed - they curate unique venues as well as planning advice.
Every time I visit there is something new, and I shoot here a lot. The quieter cousin of touristy Pokolbin, Broke is the perfect spot to get away. Accommodation on-site, incredible views, undercover options for hot or rainy days. The best management team I've met anywhere. A spectacular venue.

Margan Estate Hunter Valley Wedding Venue
Also at Broke, this venue has views over the Brokenback Range. Beautiful barrel room and top-notch food. I've always had amazing service here, a pleasure to visit.

My most photographed venue, but so gorgeous I don't mind. There is accommodation on-site at the Barracks, best suited for guests or grooms - bridal prep needs more space. With so many undercover options, I never check the forecast. Tocal checks all the boxes!

Circa 1876 Hunter Valley Wedding Venue
Formerly known as Robert's Restaurant. One of the best looking venues in the Hunter accompanied by some of the best food you can get. Bang in the middle of Pokolbin, there is plenty of accomodation available on-site and within a few minutes drive. Can't go wrong.

A little lesser known, but amazing potential. It features a homestead, so it feels as if the wedding is at a private house. BYO marquee if you're entertaining more than a small group. Excellent vineyards for photos and faces perfectly for the sunset. There's a cellar door and the most friendly labradors you'll ever meet.

Albion has a small cottage, a gorgeous barn and extensive gardens perfect for photos. Your reception can be held at the adjacent Woodville School of Arts, which can be booked separately from the gardens.
The reception space is unlike anything else in the Hunter. High ceilings & polished concrete floors give a modern, upmarket feel. Tons of spots for photos amongst the gardens. Wollombi is a little further afield, but is full of BNB's (or organise a bus back to Pokolbin).

Stonehurst is the first venue you find as you head into Wollombi, and for many couples they see no need to drive further. This venue packs the triple threat of accom / ceremony / reception in one place. I love shooting here!

Just north of Newcastle, this stunning property (that you can stay in) has a function space onsite. Fulfill your 19th-century old-money real-estate-mogul dreams. Being on the edge of Fullerton Cove means you get sunset over the water, a rarity on the east coast.

Their zucchini flowers are reason alone to have your wedding here. If you know, you know.
Fernbank Farm Central Coast Wedding Venue
How many venues can boast their own horse-drawn carriage? Located near Wyong Creek on the Central Coast, this place is an absolute dream for weddings. Two houses onsite makes planning logistics and timings super easy.

Tucked away at the bottom of the central coast, Bells is there for when only the best will do. Their list of restaurant & hospitality awards borders on the ridiculous.

Warm and cosy with incredible service. Just back from Forrester's Beach, this one is a winner. Plenty of outdoor space to kick back too.
