It was an overcast morning when I headed down to second shoot Shane & Carly’s Distillery Botanica wedding for the amazing Delisser Photography. On a manly diet of meat pies and beer, the guys suited up at Shane’s parents’ house. I always try to blend in while shooting, but I had to break cover by letting Shane’s mum know that yes, the photographer had arrived and no, I wasn’t a groomsman. We were hoping for an outdoor ceremony, and so it was with mild concern that we left in a light drizzle to head to Erina.
When we got to Distillery Botanica, the sun was shining. Then it rained. Then it stopped. The boys put the final touches on the ceremony site as guests huddled under a backup marquee. Then, the time came – Carly and her bridesmaids arrived – but it was raining again. We waited it out, hoping for a window of sunshine, which finally came through. It held just as long as was needed and not a moment more – raining down again before they could even sign the register! It was an amazing day to be a part of and surely a bridal party I won’t forget.
