Steve & Alex are one of the few couples that I didn’t manage to meet beforehand, but as soon as I arrived for their Bush Bank Kiama wedding I knew it was going to be an amazing day. I dropped by the day before the wedding to meet everyone – Alex’s bridesmaids were busy working on their bouquets and everyone else was getting the reception looking spotless. This south coast venue is perched on the rolling green hillsides that Kiama is known for, with beautiful views out to the ocean. Steve & Alex had planned a relaxed afternoon, with plenty of time after the ceremony to kick back with scones, tea sandwiches & pastries to reflect Steve’s UK homeland. Once the food was eaten and photos taken though, the time for relaxation was over as this crowd tore up the dancefloor. The night started with their cake-cutting knife breaking in half but it only improved from there. I always love the opportunity to photograph new venues, and sharing this day in Kiama was a real treat. That, and the several pieces of pavlova I had for dessert.
