2025 IN REVIEW

I love to experience all kinds of artistry. I watch my favourite drag queens and am in awe at their creativity. I visited the Yayoi Kusama exhibit and admired her commitment over a lifetime of work. I see how Lady Gaga styles her stadium shows, how prestongoes crafts his Youtube videos, how the team behind Severance gives life to blank hallways lit by fluorescent lights. I'm not trying to bring their art into my own, but over and over again the lesson is clear - listen to that inner voice of what makes your style yours, and pursue that relentlessly.

Wedding photography is changing. People who never held a film camera in their life are adding it to their packages. The word 'editorial' has been used more times than I literally thought possible, and finding a horizontal photo anywhere is akin to finding winning Lotto numbers. It's tempting to follow the trends, especially when your livelihood depends on it. If I was working just to turn a dollar though, I'd surely be doing something else. I want to learn from my favourite artists and commit even further.

I want my photos to bring a sense of reality.
A sense of humour.
Insight into what people are really like, not what I thought they should be.
Moments that were never on the runsheet.
They should make you feel something other than just 'wow, that looks expensive'.
And I want them to develop a through-line that shows who I am and what I value - genuine human experiences, connection, a unique point of view.

Here is my 2025 👊
